The name of the project, "Tree Ring", comes from the extraordinary meaning of the space to the client. The house has a 60-year history and has seen the client grow. The client wanted a space with a fresh wood tone and spacious and comfortable circulation.
The design team made significant changes to the house, including the partitions, the circulation, the number of windows, and even the foundation. They took advantage of the daylight and the hillside location to introduce light and scenery into the interior through "openwork". The chased walls and glass tiles enhance the natural lighting. It is also worth mentioning that the design team has made good use of the ceiling height difference to plan the functional space. The large terrace on the second floor continues the wooden tone of the interior, blending the outdoor scenery with the interior design to form a comfortable entertainment place for the family. ●Penetration: Openwork and Glass-The entrance is in the center of the layout, and the route is divided into left and right sides to connect each area. To avoid each area becoming an isolated space, the design team applied many penetrating techniques to link the themes of the space. For example, the facade between the entrance and the living room is presented in an openwork way above and below. When someone comes home or leaves the house, people in the living room can see it clearly and increase their daily interaction. In addition, the partition wall of the study room is made of glass bricks. The glass brick is made of a whole piece of glass, which is clear and bright and facilitates light penetration. Compared with traditional ones, this brick is thicker and can be completely transparent but not visible from the side, which makes the visual comfort bright and has a certain degree of privacy. In this way, people at the entrance cannot see the study room at a glance.
