The design of Zhongyuan Runfu is deeply rooted in the local culture of Zhengzhou, drawing inspiration from the historical context of the Central Plains, the urban fabric of Zhengzhou, the vibrant life along Jinshui Road, the cultural essence and elegance of China Resources Land's "Run" series, and the iconic IP element—the rose. Together, these elements shape an Eastern-inspired lifestyle hub unique to the Central Plains.
The design refines traditional forms and reinterprets their intrinsic spirit, moving away from ornate decorations. By infusing contemporary simplicity with an Eastern core, it creates tranquil and profound spatial experiences. The interior follows a multi-layered ritualistic layout, evoking a sense of order and ceremony upon returning home.
In the art reception lobby, the lightbox features a blooming rose at its center, with petal layers outlined using the hollow-cut lines of Zhengzhou paper-cutting. When illuminated, it reveals the delicate texture of paper-cutting and the dynamic glow of lantern light, blending the rose symbol with local culture.
Starting from the city’s urban fabric and natural environment, the design team extracted elements such as symmetry, order, and arrangement from traditional architectural wisdom as foundational principles for spatial organization. The interior design also extends the architectural and landscape elements, ensuring sensory and visual continuity throughout.
The material palette is dominated by warm, light tones, with deep hues and accent colors applied strategically to enhance spatial depth. Details such as stone inlays and textured glass screens reflect contemporary craftsmanship while embodying the spirit of Eastern aesthetics.
The choice of materials emphasizes local characteristics, using natural tones such as stone, black gray, and gardenia white that are unique to the Central Plains, combined with regional
textures such as Yellow River glass and Zi Ou, to construct a visual system that combines cultural depth and natural texture.
The use of symmetry and order echoes the ritualistic spirit of Central Plains culture, while arrangement and framed views create ever-changing visual experiences with each step. Each scene resembles a scroll of life in the Central Plains, evoking a contemporary reimagining of traditional scholarly gatherings.
