Rooted in the rich heritage of the Central Plains, this project draws inspiration from the poetic legacy of Luoyang and the elegance of imperial gardens. Along the tranquil banks of the Shali River, it transforms the grandeur of ancient royal court life into contemporary daily experience, blending natural charm with refined Eastern living. The design references the celebrated Jiuzhou Pool, a symbol of imperial elegance from the Sui, Tang, and Song dynasties, reinterpreting its synthesis-style garden techniques, poetic ambiance, and literary spirit for modern times.
Guided by the theme of “Harmonious Nine Streams · Blossoming Pool Banquet,” the landscape unfolds into immersive spatial scenes, welcoming residents through ceremonial gateways, panoramic waterside platforms, secluded woodland paths, and poetic pavilions for leisure and cultural gatherings. The intention is to offer a journey through layered natural experiences, where every turn reveals shifting light, water, and vegetation. Elements such as a cascading 5-meter waterfall, multi-level reflective pools, floating lights, and a 9.5-meter tea pavilion with flying eaves evoke the dreamlike splendor of imperial retreats, allowing residents to feel as though they have stepped into a living scroll.
The design adheres to the Eastern pursuit of subtlety and resonance—where meaning extends beyond form. Instead of relying on symbolic ornamentation, the project focuses on the interaction between nature, architecture, and human experience. Water flows through tiered channels like jade and bamboo, mountain paths create layered sightlines, and natural materials evoke timeless charm. Every detail aims to cultivate emotional depth, spiritual comfort, and a sense of belonging.
Addressing site challenges, the design introduces unobstructed wind corridors and reflective surfaces to optimize light and air flow within the sunken courtyard. Three-dimensional circulation paths, hotel-style arrival sequences, and carefully layered tree canopies soften vertical pressure from surrounding buildings. Material transitions are refined and sustainable strategies such as tiered rain-garden systems and resilient stone selections ensure long-lasting vitality.
Ultimately, this is a poetic sanctuary that bridges ancient elegance with modern life, enabling residents to find tranquility, cultural resonance, and spiritual refuge amid mountains, water, and light.
