Located on Jinan's Jingshi Road within Daming Lake's scenic sphere, this project follows the concept "Carving a Garden from the Bright Lake, Entering a Painting Beyond the World." The design interprets the lake's seasonal views and the cultural presence of Chaoran Pavilion into contemporary residential landscape language. Through three unfolding scenes—Entry, Transition, and Core—it crafts an immersive Eastern garden journey.
The main entrance, "Twin Terrace-Pine Mountain," acts as both gateway and urban interface. Flanking terrace gardens form a natural buffer, with black pines arranged symmetrically to create a visual framework. Their staggered placement builds depth and rhythm along the axis. The feature wall ends reference Chaoran Pavilion's flying eaves in a modern translation, while rows of hackberry trees and columns reinforce ceremonial order beneath a shaded canopy.
The community entrance employs the classical sequence "Guiding the View – Forming the Scene – Acquiring the Vista." An elevated bridge serves as a circulation link while framing views and strengthening the entry's identity.
Inspired by Jinan's model garden "Xia Yuan," the sunken courtyard uses a translucent jade-like screen as a subtle entrance veil, revealing the interior vista beyond. Its centerpiece is the "Mountain of Books" stone sculpture, abstractly evoking Jinan's "Kuixu Book Collection" and spring water movement. An adjacent seating platform, shaped like a lotus leaf with a carved *Baoxianghua* motif, fulfills function while nodding to local culture.
Rooted in regional context, the design derives its forms from locality yet transcends boundaries, uniting natural beauty and cultural reflection within one garden.
