Shenzhen Qianhai Snow World is a groundbreaking sports and recreation destination that transforms a subtropical city at 22 degrees north latitude into a year-round winter sports hub. As the world's largest indoor ski resort, it features an 83-meter vertical drop and a 463-meter longest single run—both global records—offering an unparalleled alpine experience in a region where natural snow is impossible.
The facility offers five trails for all skill levels, from gentle teaching slopes to advanced terrain with jumps. An efficient transport system with dual cable cars moves thousands of visitors per hour, while a sixth-generation snowmaking system produces premium powder snow mimicking natural alpine conditions year-round.
Beyond skiing, the complex integrates a deep indoor diving base and expansive snow play zones. Retail, dining, and a luxury hotel with direct slope access create a seamless destination where sports and leisure coexist.
Architecturally, the "Blue Whale" design houses the massive slope in a lightweight structure, with its underside serving as a canvas for nightly aurora light projections.
Environmentally and architecturally, solar panels offset energy consumption, rainwater irrigates landscapes, and "sponge city" wetlands mitigate flooding. The project has achieved BREEAM "Excellent" certification. It has also received design-phase certifications from China's Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development for ultra-low energy consumption and low-carbon building standards.
By democratizing winter sports for millions in southern China, Shenzhen Qianhai Snow World establishes a new benchmark for sports destinations worldwide.
